Sarnath International Nyingma Institute

The Sarnath International Nyingma Institute’s mission is fourfold: to sustain the roots of the Dharma; advance the study of classical Buddhist languages; empower the transmission of the Dharma; and to promote interdisciplinary collaborations. Inaugurated in the winter of 2013, and blessed with the planting of a sacred sapling of the original Bodhi Tree, under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, the Institute is the fruit of decades of cultural and religious preservation work carried out by our founder, Tarthang Rinpoche. Our work is to support a vibrant and beneficial course of study and practice to preserve and protect the transmission of the Dharma for the benefit of all sentient beings.

SINI provides a unique opportunity for monastics, students, researchers, and practitioners to deepen their studies in an interdisciplinary approach to human development, social well-being, and environmental stewardship, creating a bridge of wisdom, knowledge, and best-practices of the East and the West.
